Sitting Pretty

One of the loveliest drawings I've done to date. Very softly rendered with Walnut Ink and a quill pen then light washes were used to represent tone and anatomy. The drawing is on very lightly sized and prepared tan toned Pesca paper and is in a gold frame that matches the tonality of the piece.

Goddess Study

For a Painting series that I am currently developing that will incur Venus being pursued by Cupid as he tries to stab her in the heart with an arrow. Just a quick study of the form as it falls back and the foreshortening in the arms and hands. I am unsure as to if this is the final drawing but I like the action of the pose.

Sad Nora

Perhaps I caught something of Nora's thoughts as she posed so patiently for an hour for this drawing. Her expression was so sad and it really was a challenge to capture it exactly. All in all a very nice charcoal drawing with the focus on the foreshortening of the anatomy of the figure. Done on sized Grey Canson paper.

Despair in a Chair

This model was just so sad. He also is the one with the famous "Scrotum" in earlier posts. I tried to capture part of his feeling with the gray of the charcoal and then sanguine conte over it. I did end up liking the combination really. First real attempt at that.

Ballerina's Toes

Done with charcoal on light blue sized and prepared Stonehenge archival paper; this little 20 min drawing is very nicely and accurately portrayed. Proper proportion and the use of light is essential in the curved rounding of the forms presented in the foot. I've been focusing many drawings to hands and feet in an attempt to better understand my anatomy as well as find a true balance with the forms and my mediums.
